About the artist
In 2001, Robert moved to Ocala, Florida. With renewed energy after a 13 year break, he was ready to return to painting. His style reflects a maturity that comes from artistic exploration and a life well-lived. A master at shadows and sunlight with flickers of color, Stebleton draws the viewer into his world. “I have lived and worked in many places, but my paintings are more than a travelogue, they are snapshots of my life.” His pallet that was once filled with subtle earth tones now also has vibrant color. Experience has shown him that hard work and not being influenced by current trends has given him his artistic voice.

The shrimp boat, Capt Elroy caught my eye one summer day in 2007. I had gone to St. Augustine, Florida looking for inspiration and was struck by the graceful lines of the old wooden boat.
