Award winning photographer, John Reed began taking family snaps with a hand-me down 35 millimeter rangefinder. Decades later John still focuses on what’s closest to him – North Florida While most people rush through life often oblivious to their surroundings, Reed stops, sees and preserves the splendor of everyday living.
John Reed “finds beauty in the ordinary” providing us with extraordinary monochromatic and color photographs. From Reed’s unique perspective which includes masterful use of natural lighting, the everyday world becomes magical. This University of North Florida instructor’s subjects range from landmarks, animals, storms, waterways and anything else he “sees along the way”. Not surprisingly, his work is featured in prestigious periodicals, featured in juried shows often winning and displayed at many corporate sites.
Sway with a shrimp boat, touch the dew on a twig, watch a heron swoop over the river and become enveloped by a majestic sunset. This work is more than incredible imagery, since John Reed captures and shares the emotion of the moment.
