| Lyn Asselta has pursued her art career in various forms over the past 25 years. She has worked as a calligrapher, teacher, and award-winning creator of gourd vessels incorporating intricate design work with traditional pine needle basketry. In 2003, Lyn decided the one thing she still wanted to do was to paint landscapes. So, she found an old box of pastels and started a new journey.
After having the good fortune to have lived in places that offered amazing scenery, from the coast of Maine, to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina, to the marshes, beaches and Intracoastal Waterway of Florida, it seemed natural to paint these images of places she had enjoyed over the years before they disappeared to development or became inaccessible. She continues to paint landscapes in the hope that her images pass along a sense of place, a feeling of solitude or a moment in time.
Lyn’s work has been exhibited in shows throughout the southeast and in Maine. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Painters of Maine. She holds memberships in the St. Augustine Art Association, the Pastel Painters of Maine, the Southeastern Pastel Society and the Pastel Society of North Carolina. |
