This light house intrigues me because it is not situated on a rocky outcropping like I'm used to seeing up north. In fact, it is surrounded by a neighborhood and trees.
The idea of the light perched above the canopy of oaks and palms below was very appealing. The first glimpse I had of this lighthouse after coming to St. Augustine was very similar...a light jutting through the treetops. I wanted to depict it that way since I felt it is a unique characteristic of this particular light.
